Slacklining

On the 4th we went to VA and hung out with my Mom's side of the family.  My cousin Trevor has always been the wild child/risk taker/absolutely insane member of our family.  So when he told me his new hobby was slacklining, I had no clue what he was talking about.  Well... I soon found out.  Basically it is when you tie up a thin, flat rope on two trees about 4 feet off the ground and then walk across it.  Of course, Trevor had all the gear with him at my grandmother's house because he cannot have one single relaxing day. :) So Tyler and I said we would help him set it up and watch him do it.  After an hour of getting it all set up with hundreds of cables and clips it was ready to go.  So first Trevor demonstrated for us and made it look easy....
This "sport" is all about balance. Trevor has been doing it for about a year now and is very, very good..
Since he made it look so easy I thought, what's the harm in trying it? (besides falling off and breaking my hip) So I made Tyler and Trevor swear under oath that they wouldn't leave either side of me!
And up I went...

If you can't tell which one Trevor is from my description of wild child earlier, he is the one with all the tattoos :).....  Once you get up on the slackline it sags down and bounces with your steps so it looks a little lower to the ground and you can't tell just how wobbly it is!! I was pretty scared here but proud of myself for trying! Next up was Tyler..
He had to have assistance too so I felt better.. it really is HARD! Did I mention that?
Well we took a break to eat some yummy food and then I found some courage I never knew I had to try it again!

As you can see here I got extremely brave and let go of the boys... This pic is a little deceiving though, I could only stand like that for 2.3 seconds before I had to have help!

Then Trevor showed us how its really supposed to be done!! Check out his professional skills...
